Good nutrition, particularly in the first three years of life, is important for establishing a good foundation that has implications for a child’s future physical and mental health, academic achievement, and economic productivity.
Unfortunately, food insecurity is an obstacle that threatens that critical foundation. Food insecurity is not having enough healthy food to thrive. It affects 15.3 million children in the United States.
Adequate nutrition is also, very important for Senior Citizens to ensure active, healthy lifestyles.
Unfortunately, many seniors are forced to make difficult, but unavoidable choices such as whether to purchase medication, pay for housing and utilities.
Buying food, especially nutritious food, is often last on their list and healthy choices like fruits and vegetables are often not an option.
